DESCRIPTION: Research indicates that the LGBTQ+ community faces many barriers to quality healthcare including lack of awareness. This presentation provides education on topics related to the LGBTQ+ community to promote client-centered practice.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: 1.Learners will be able to recognize and define terms related to the LGBTQ+ community. 2.Learners will identify specific health-related issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. 3.Learners will be able to create and advocate for a safe and welcoming environment when providing services to members of the LGBTQ+ community. 4.Learners will describe occupational therapy’s role in addressing health-related issues related to the LGBTQ+ community.
