Category: Great Plains West District

Live - Virtual - Event on 9/13/2022

SpeakerMolly Setliff, OTD, OTR
Molly Setliff has 30 years of clinical experience working as an occupational therapist in a variety of practice settings with a primary focus on adults with physical rehabilitation with an emphasis on those experiencing cognitive and behavioral impairments. She developed and published the WHEW documentation technique to improve the ability of clinicians and students to write efficiently and effectively to demonstrate skilled therapeutic interventions and decrease the risk of reimbursement denials.

Short Abstract - The ability to write concise yet thorough daily narrative notes for each CPT® code selected would be a valuable skill for OTPs. The WHEW documentation technique provides an efficient and effective way of note-writing to justify the selected CPT code.

Learner Objectives:
By the end of the session the learner will:
1.Describe Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services criteria for effective documentation corresponding to CPT codes.
2.Describe the WHEW; an efficient and effective note-writing technique.
3.Identify in what situation is the WHEW technique recommended.
4.Compare and contrast a SOAP note and a WHEW note.
5.Construct a WHEW note tied to a case study.
