DeAn Sellmann  is core faculty at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Dallas where she is the primary instructor for Anatomy Applied to Occupation Residential and Flex programs and Clinical Applications of OT in Psychosocial and Community Settings for the Flex program .

Short Abstract: According to Scofield (2018), 30% of OT Practitioners felt that their anatomy instruction inadequately prepared them for practice. Anatomy education varies between schools. This course will bridge the gap between current knowledge and the needs for anatomy knowledge in practice.

Learning Objectives:

o Participants will be able to identify the origin, insertion, action, and innervation of the rotator cuff muscles
o Participants will be able to distinguish between common pathologies of the shoulder complex
o Participants will be able to identify the parts of the Brachial Plexus and their functions
o Participants will be able to identify the origin, insertion, action, and innervation of the elbow musculature
o Participants will be able to distinguish between common pathologies of the elbow and forearm
o Participants will be able to identify the origin, insertion, action and innervation of the wrist and hand muscles
o Participants will be able to distinguish between common pathologies involving the wrist and hand
