Speaker:  Jennifer Park, OTR, MOT
Jennifer Park grew up in Midland, TX where she and her family worked together to serve those that were unhoused or experiencing food and housing insecurity. Jennifer received her Master’s Degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2010.  In 2019 Jennifer founded Moving Waters: she saw the first hand effect a shower had on her patients during an OT evaluation and realized that those experiencing homelessness also deserved to access to regular hygiene in order to effect positive change.

Short Abstract: This course outlines how occupational therapy practitioners can bring occupational therapy services to those experiencing homelessness. There are currently 25,000 people in Texas experiencing homelessness, creating a need for OT in the community.

Learning Objectives:
•Discuss the role of occupational therapy among those experiencing homelessness.
•Identify occupational needs of those experiencing homelessness.
•Identify various support services for those experiencing homelessness. •Create treatment plans based on case studies presented.
