  Short Abstract: This session will walk new graduates and students through the pragmatic, practice, and personal aspects of transitioning to an OTP. Emphasis on the importance of OT’s foundation and care for oneself as a practitioner to prevent burnout.

The Texas Society for Advancement of Health Professions 
The Texas Society for Advancement of Health Professions has several great opportunities for students.  These are associated with our annual fall conference that will be held on Thursday/Friday, September 17-18, 2026, at the School of Health Professions at MD Anderson in Houston.  Our theme is “Resiliency in Health Professions:  Thriving, Not Just Surviving”.

Fieldwork Housing

How it works:  Students in need of housing reach out to us with their city, dates, and any special needs. 
Meanwhile, hosts reach out to us with their location, amenities, and any special requests. We currently have 142 potential hosts throughout 115 cities in 41 states and the District of Columbia!  If we have a host available in the area the student needs, we will connect the student and potential host to “meet” (email, phone call, Zoom, etc) to make sure it will be a good fit for both parties.
