Call for Proposals TOTA 2026 Annual Conference and 90th Anniversary Celebration
The Texas Occupational Therapy Association (TOTA) invites proposals for the 2026 Annual Conference. Share your expertise and contribute to advancing occupational therapy practice, education, and research.
We welcome submissions from:
- Occupational Therapists (OTs)
- Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs)
- Occupational Therapy Students
- Professionals from related disciplines

Preparing Your Proposal To make the submission process easier, we recommend using the Proposal Template before entering your proposal into the online form. The template helps you:
- Verify spelling and grammar
- Confirm character limits
- Ensure all required sections are complete
Proposal Template
Proposals Requirements Proposals must meet the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE) Continuing Education requirements (§367.1–§367.2).
Acceptable Content Continuing education activities must:
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the public and
- Support the maintenance or enhancement of occupational therapy knowledge and skills
- Contribute to OT education, ethics, pedagogy, or theory development
Activities Not Accepted Activities that do not qualify as continuing education include:
- Breaks, meals, introductions, pre-post testing
- Business meetings, exhibit hall attendance
- Training specific to one organization’s policies or procedures
- Business development or product promotion
- General topics not specific to OT practice (e.g., CPR, HIPAA, FERPA, team building, standardized test preparation)
Reviewal Process: Proposals are reviewed in a blind, peer-review process by practitioners with expertise in the topic areas. Final selection and scheduling are made at the sole discretion of TOTA.
Submission Guidelines The individual submitting the proposal with serve as the primary contact and receive all conference communications.
- Proposals must be submitted through the Whova online submission system
- Submitted proposals cannot be edited
- Accepted proposals cannot be changed
- Use the same email associated with your TOTA profile when submitting through Whova
- If submitting multiple proposals, use the same email address for each submission
To support the blind review process:
- Do not include the names of individuals or facilities
- Do not include protected health information (PHI)
Incomplete proposals will be deleted after the submission deadline.
Presenter Expectations If selected, presenters agree to:
- Respond to the invitation by the specified deadline
- Register for the conference
- Present their session in the proposed format
Failure to meet this commitment may affect eligibility to present at future TOTA conferences.
